Plane ticket is purchased!

So I got exciting news yesterday... my flight is officially purchased, and it cost less than budgeted, which brought my overall budget down by about $500- this is awesome news. Just want to thank everyone so far for the overwhelming support coming in- in only 3 weeks I've recieved %68 of what I need! Unfortunately the rest needs to be in before I'm able to leave for Kenya, but I'm sure that if I continue to be as blessed as I have so far that shouldnt be a problem. Please pray for me in these last 18!!!! days before I take off. I have an amazing sense of calmness right now, for not knowing many of the specifics of the trip, and I hope that faith will continue and that I can be as well prepared as possible for whatever opportunities God is planning for me. Thank you again for all your prayers and support, and hopefully this blog will get WAY more interesting when Im able to add some of my pictures! =)

My original support letter, sent in December 2009

Dear Friends and Family,

Jambo! I hope this Christmas season finds you full of joy and excitement, spending time with family, celebrating our Savior’s birth and looking forward to a new year. I have a lot to be excited about this year and I wanted to fill you in on what lies ahead for me in the next few months. I have been feeling a strong pull towards the mission field in the last year, and after much prayer, God has opened up an incredible opportunity for me to serve with World Global Mission in Nakuru, Kenya!

I am blessed to be able to share my love of children with the young orphans at the Baby Center of Nakuru, and hopefully to use my gift of photography to bring joy and awareness through the Baby Center website and to you all at home, following my journey. The travel dates aren’t yet set, but I plan to leave around February 10 and return sometime the last week in March.

One of my greatest needs is to have the support of my family and friends, and I would be honored and humbled if you would feel led to faithfully pray for me and also support me financially. Please pray specifically that I will be able to prepare my heart and mind for this life changing experience in the short time before I leave, that hearts in Kenya will be willing to receive the gospel and that I will be open to all that God has to show and teach me while I’m there.

The total expense for my trip is about $3,950.00, which covers travel, ministry, housing and daily living expenses. I trust that God will provide in the short time that I have to gather the funds before I leave in February, and if you would like to help, your financial support would be gratefully welcomed. There is information enclosed that will explain how to make a tax-deductible gift.

Thank you SO much for your interest in my life and your continued prayer. I will definitely keep in touch both as I prepare for and look forward to my time in Nakuru and during this exciting endeavor!

Serving Christ with you,
